Free Fish ID Presentations at Trans World Radio Bonaire

Join REEF expert surveyors Dana Kowalsick with Let’s Go Dive Bonaire and Carmen Toanchina with Biodiverse Bonaire for FREE fish ID classes!

Details:

  • Fish ID Presentation: Last Thursday of the month, 7:00pm AST

  • Location: Trans World Radio Bonaire (TWR) 64 Kaya Gob.N Debrot, Kranlendijk, Caribbean Netherlands

  • Open to divers, snorkelers and/or any fish enthusiasts of all experience levels!

Every month, we create fun and informative presentations highlighting different fish families. These sessions cover basic fish anatomy, explain how to become a REEF Volunteer Fish Survey Project surveyor, and include fun facts about each featured family. We also share helpful tips for identifying the species commonly seen here on Bonaire. Whether you’re snorkeling, fun diving, or conducting a survey dive, you’ll leave with a better understanding of the fish you’re seeing in the water!

Monthly Fish Survey Dives with Let's Go Dive Bonaire

For all REEF members—whether you’re vacationing on Bonaire or living locally—Dana and Jason are excited to offer monthly fish survey dives. Each month, we’ll choose a different dive site to meet at, provide a detailed briefing and refresher on how to conduct roving diver surveys, and then head out together for a group dive to collect fish data for REEF’s Volunteer Fish Survey Project.

Divers should arrive with their own tanks and gear; however, we can provide REEF slates and pencils for those who need them. After the dive, we’ll host a discussion about the fish we observed and help identify any mystery species we encountered.

These dives are free to join, though donations on behalf of REEF are always appreciated.

Details about upcoming fish survey dives will be shared on our social media, so be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook!
